We are a team of passionate developers and engineers from the Netherlands who got tired of waiting for green energy to work around the clock. So we built something new: a frictionless, ultra-efficient windmill that fits on unused chimney stacks and generates power even when the wind barely whispers.
The Challenge
Solar panels go dark at night. Conventional wind turbines stall when the breeze drops below their minimum speed threshold. This means that during winter months and overnight hours — exactly when energy demand peaks — renewable sources often fall silent.
As developers living in the Netherlands, we experienced this gap first-hand. High electricity bills, heavy reliance on fossil-fuel backup grids, and a sense that the industry had stopped innovating. That frustration became our fuel.
Together with leading research institutes, we set out to engineer a windmill that simply never stops — regardless of wind speed, time of day, or season.
Our Design Concept
Our design draws from decades of vertical-axis wind turbine research. By combining the self-starting torque of the Savonius rotor with the aerodynamic lift of the Darrieus configuration — and wrapping it in a smooth helix profile — we achieve what none of these designs could accomplish alone.
The elegant curved blades of a Darrieus turbine generate powerful aerodynamic lift at higher wind speeds. We incorporate this outer blade configuration into our design, dramatically boosting energy output as wind speeds increase — all while maintaining the compact, chimney-friendly footprint.
Urban Infrastructure
Across the Netherlands — and indeed across Europe — there are thousands of unused chimney stacks sitting idle on rooftops. Once essential for heating, today they serve no purpose. We see them differently: they are ready-made installation points for clean energy generation.
Our windmill is engineered to mount directly onto existing chimney infrastructure. No new foundations. No planning permits for new structures. Just a clean, vertical turbine where a chimney pot used to be — quietly generating power day and night.
The elevated position of a chimney also means our turbines are above rooftop turbulence, accessing cleaner, faster, more consistent airflow than ground-level installations.
Our Innovation
Our core design fuses a Helix Savonius rotor — known for its omnidirectional lift — with a Darrieus outer configuration for aerodynamic efficiency. Wrapped around a magnetic levitation bearing, the result is a vertical-axis wind turbine that spins in almost any breeze and loses virtually no energy to friction.
The twisted helical blade profile captures wind from every direction simultaneously, making the turbine fully omnidirectional with smooth, continuous torque — no dead spots, no stalling.
An outer Darrieus ring multiplies aerodynamic lift at higher wind speeds, dramatically boosting output without increasing the footprint. The two systems self-reinforce each other.
Our proprietary magnetic bearing configuration levitates the rotor assembly, eliminating all mechanical contact. No bearings wear out, no lubrication needed, and energy loss is near-zero.
Designed to bolt onto existing unused chimney stacks, our system repurposes urban infrastructure that would otherwise sit idle — no new permits, no new footprint.
Because it requires only 2.5 m/s to start generating, our turbine produces power through winter nights when solar and conventional wind are unavailable. Always on.
We co-develop with leading research and engineering institutes to validate performance, accelerate prototyping, and fast-track regulatory approval across Europe.
